Seven years ago over beers at a local bar, my good friend Terry and I hatched a plan. We'd take off on dual-sport motorcycles and tour the United States by (mostly) dirt. We didn't own bikes, weren't overly accomplished riders, we had limited time, multiple kids and hadn't yet talked to our wives about this idea. But we had a dream - and weren't getting any younger.
Weeks later we had wheels and a few months later we had the support of our wives and a few friends that wanted to join the team. Our group expanded to 4, then to 6 for the first couple of rides and now stands at 9 aging riders with more crazy ideas than time or sense.
We cut our teeth in the Arkansas Ozark hills on Kawasaki KLR650s. We beat those bikes up for a few years but they got us from the Canadian border to Moe's Original Bar-B-Que, Breckenridge, CO in 2013, then from the Mexican border to Moe's Breckenridge in 2015; tracking the Continental Divide in both directions.
In 2016, the Adventure Motorcycle USA team traded in the old KLRs for BMW GS 1200s and KTM 990/1190 Adventures and took off on a 2,600 mile 12-day ride from Northern California to Moe's Breckenridge, CO.
2017 had us headed West once again. Starting in Phoenix, AZ we spent 12 days headed North through Utah and Colorado to, you guessed it, Moe's Original Bar-B-Que, Breckenridge CO. Rather than a continuous ride, we shortened the mileage and set up a few "base camps" from which to do some out and back day rides.
In 2018, we started in Boise, ID and we rode North on the BDR and then East through Montana, Wyoming finishing in the Badlands of South Dakota.
In 2019 the team will tackle the Cascade mountains starting in Portland, OR and heading north along the BDR through Washington toward the Canadian border. Should be another great ride.
I hope you enjoy the site look forward to sharing our motorcycle adventures with you. For more photos and videos link to our INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK pages below. See you on down the trail.

Dare to Discover.
Meet Team Adventure Motorcycle USA!
We're more of an after work Thursday night "beer league" softball team than we are a Red Bull or Dew Tour team. We are, however, sponsored by the best Bar-B-Que group in the country (www.moesoriginalbbq.com) and by guys that actually know what they're doing with racing and wrenching bikes. If you own a KTM MX bike and aren't using BulletProof Designs guards, you will eventually wish you were (www.bulletproofdesigns.com).
